Key Definitions

Parental alienation is a pattern of behavior in which one parent influences a child to reject, fear, or distance themselves from the other parent without a healthy or justified reason. It can involve manipulation, interference with communication, or repeated efforts to damage the parent-child bond.

Parental kidnapping is the concealment, removal, or retention of a child by a parent in violation of custody orders, parenting agreements, or the other parent’s lawful rights. It may include taking a child without consent, refusing to return them, or hiding their location.
